Every year, the Thornwood Fire Department holds its annual inspection dinner. Although the members maintain all tools and equipment throughout the year, this is when everything is brought back to looking the way it did when we got it. The apparatus, hand tools, chainsaws, and firehouse, even parking lots are cleaned. Along with that, the inspection is also a time when members who have put many hours on calls and training are noticed and given an award. This year we also tried something new to boost morale and make a more friendly competition amongst the men. Each officer chose from Rescue 75, Tower Ladder 1, Engine 89 and Engine 88. Then the officers were given a squad to clean the rigs. Many members took it very seriously and it was a very close contest. The judges were kept secret but it was a very fair competition. And the Winner is:
Apparatus of the Year
Tower Ladder 1
