The Thornwood Fire Department, in conjunction with the Fireman's Association of the State of New York are hosting a Open House to recruit members. The Open House will take place on Saturday April 21, 10AM - 2PM & 4PM - 8PM and Sunday April 22, 1PM - 5PM.

Every year, the Thornwood Fire Department holds its annual inspection dinner. Although the members maintain all tools and equipment throughout the year, this is when everything is brought back to looking the way it did when we got it.

The Thornwood Fire District and Company #1 welcome Engine 88. A 2010 Sutphen Custom Monarch Pumper. Although Engine 88 has been in service since January, Yesterday The Thornwood Fire District and Company welcomed her into service.
On Monday March 15, 2009 Pleasantville Fire Department was Dispatched to a Possible Structure fire at 4 Laurel Hill Drive. Thornwood Tower Ladder 1 is on an automatic dual response plan with Pleasantville FD, due to their tower ladder being out of service.

The Blizzard conditions have put a hold on the District Meeting that was set to be held tonight. The meeting will resume tomorrow night 2/11/10 at 7PM. There is a snow standby crew at the firehouse as of 2/10/10 for the apparent blizzard like conditions for this evening.

On July 19, 2009 at approximately 22:30 Hours, Pleasantville Fire Department was dispatched to a Possible Structure fire at 5 Great Oak Lane. Within minutes 60 control was notified by a Pleasantville Firefighter and Pleasantville Police of a confirmed working fire.

In the past few months, Chief Dave Dwyer and Lieutenant Christopher Duffelmeyer have been designing a New Logo for all the rigs in the firehouse. We have gone away with the standard light blue model T version and amped it up to Modern art.
