The Thornwood Fire Department wants to remind everyone to change batteries in smoke alarms when you change your clocks 

The Thornwood Fire Department is 100% Volunteer; based in The town of Mt. Pleasant, Westchester, NY. The Thornwood Fire Company has served the community for over 110 years.

 

 

 

The Thornwood Fire Department Consists of the Fire District's Board of Fire Commissioners. The Commissioners are the five residents elected by the voters of the Thornwood Fire District to manage the affairs of the District. The Fire Chief reports to the board and is responsible for the operation of the fire department's emergency operations, training and equipment. The Thornwood Fire Co. #1 is Comprised of approximately 75 volunteer firefighters who are the driving force behind the protection of over 2,500 homes and businesses in the 5 square mile community, with nearly 6,000 residents and many more visitors each day. We are always looking for new hero's to step forward and become part of our exciting team. Stop down any Thursday evening at 7:30PM or call (914) - 769 - 0345. Membership Starts with the Boy Scout Venturing program at ages 14-15, then Advancement to the Fire Corp Comprised of 16-17 year old members. Senior Corp membership begins at age 18.

 

Annual Scholarships help high school students with college tuition. Free emergency services training helps keep the community safe. There are many benefits to becoming a volunteer firefighter. There are no better reasons then being there when somebody needs emergency help.
